The newest collaboration of Cellar Contemporary with AFC Collective
From September 12th to October 12th the exhibition “Fuga dal Mondo dei Sogni” will be held at Cellar Contemporary. This is the fourth temporary exhibition curated by AFC Collective. Through the artworks by ABVA, Fresh Rucola, Joe Grillo, Pepemaniak and Softwareboy the borderline separation between reality and virtuality will be the focus of this experience.
Videogames are an ever-evolving phenomenon that has corroborated the definition of close-up reality, a virtual space where the perception of our social identity becomes altered. Videogamers are tied together to the dimension of online gaming, where this new virtual identity is created along with a net of collective digital relationships that coexist within a simulated reality. The objective of this exhibition is to draw attention to the way we live, on the edge between the real and the virtual world, and reflect on it. The showroom set will be composed of 3D artworks, paintings, sculptures and technological objects.
Pepemaniak, whose real name is Federico Ceruso, is a visual artist from Rome. He was one of the first supporters and promoters of the Trap musical genre in Italy. Being a multidisciplinary artist, he also creates sculptures and owns a clothing brand.
Joe Grillo was born in 1980 in Meteor City, Arizona, currently lives and works in Virginia Beach, Va. Grillo is co-founder of the art collective Dearraindrop since 1998. Grillo has exhibited works in the US & internationally. Recent solo shows have been The Hole, New York and a solo exhibition at Loyal Gallery Sweden.
Niccolò, alias Softwareboy, is a 3D artist and designer from Rome. He learnt how to use and create 3D softwares during the Covid19 pandemic, whilst he was still attending high school. He sold most of his artworks, mainly garments, in the world of Token Art and has also worked in collaboration with brands such as Adidas and Foot Locker.
ABVA, Andrea Bellei, comes from a city near Reggio Emilia. Originally, he was a street artist, later he started painting also on canvas. He mainly depicts surreal landscapes using geometrical forms and saturated colors.
Fresh Rucola is a digital artist based in Lecce, born in 1995. All of his artworks are inspired by the 3D-scans which he has been collecting during the past years. The resulting art is a mixture between symbolism and surrealism.
