It was the year 1714 when in the small city of Mezzocorona, following the marriage of Teresa De Vescovi and Carlo Martini, a new structure was built: Palace Conti Martini.
Since that year, the building has been decorated with different styles, all reflecting the aristocrtic taste of the noble tenants, but strictly bound to agricoltural tradition, true richness of many generation of inhabitants of the Palace.
Today, more than 300 years after the palace still maintains its charm, so much to bound without schreeching with contemporary art.
Driven by common feelings with this location, Angelo Maisto (Naples, 1977), who grew up in the rooms of the Capodimonte museum, the palace of Caserta and Napoli’s St. Martin museum, realized a site specific exhibition.
From the beginning of his artistic career, Maisto carefully observed and interiorized the tecnique of the “Flemish Stilleven”. The artist, merging common objects and natural tradition, created a new cosmic order, bringing life to new creatures. This result is possible due to a meticolous selection combined with a painstaking execution; an extraordinary intuition.
In the most recent works Maisto opens to a new emotional dimension. In paintings such as “Emphaty” a soul is born.
Watercolors on paper and sculptures greatly adapt with the original decorations of the building, opening a wonderful scenario where natural things are in balance with artificial things, aristocratic values with paesant values, the harmony of nature with man’s creative power.
